From Away

Well I decided to follow Amy Johnson Crow’s 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks.  This week I’m going to discuss how our family got to Canada and when.

THACKWRAY – Grandpa Thack (Ralph), Nana Thack (May or Maisie as she was affectionately called), and Dad (Ian Thackwray) all came over in 1952. Grampa left Liverpool, England on 19 March 1952 bound for Saint John, N.B.  He came via Canadian Pacific on the SS Empress of Canada.

I’m going to have to find out why he went to New Brunswick and how he got from there to Cobourg, Ontario.

Dad and Nana left from Southampton on 10 May 1952.  They came on the Home Lines SS Atlantic.

This is all I know right now, in regards to the Thackwrays.  I’ll see what else I can find.
